Earth Dream Midwifery is about honoring the rite of passage contained in the childbearing year. It’s about holding space for transformation during uncertain times on the planet. It’s about listening to ourselves in the creative processes of birth and growing a family.

About Angela

A Note from the Midwife

I am Angela Hartley, a licensed Midwife practicing on unceded Amah Mutsun and Tamien land, in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties.

I have offered home birth and birth center services since 2017.

I have a  background in cultural anthropology and social/environmental activism. I am passionate about personal and collective healing.

I care deeply about birth and families. It is meaningful to support the physical, emotional and spiritual well being of pregnant people, babies and their families.

I prioritize listening to my clients and what is important to them. I trust the wisdom of the human body and physiologic birth.

I am motivated to help facilitate healthy, secure attachment of infants to their people. I love the reparative experiences adults can have through the thoughtful choices made in creating their own families.

Individualized, compassionate care is important. Care that is responsive to one’s culture and life history, honors diversity in gender, sexuality and family structure. I practice trauma informed care and am big on consent. I do my best to safeguard my clients’ preferences, wishes and bodily autonomy.

I hold my very personal work with families in a larger intention to assist in intergenerational healing and to help create positive change on earth.

Training and Education

I’ve been attending births for over a decade. First, as a doula for family and friends, then professionally. I have been fortunate to train with local, respected home birth midwives through apprenticeship.

I graduated from the National Midwifery Institute in 2016 and am licensed through the Medical Board of California and certified through the North American Registry of Midwives. I participate in continuing education and am blessed to attend numerous families a year on their journeys.
